Termite Inspection

What We Look For

At Americas Choice, our inspectors are highly trained, licensed, and experienced; they know exactly what to look for during a termite inspection. While there are different types of wood-boring insects, subterranean termites are the most common in North Carolina. We typically look for signs of swarming, mud tubes, and/or feeding. Swarms of winged-insects, mud tube formation on floor joists and walls, and soft hollow wood are all signs of a termite problem.

Impacts of an Infestation

Finding out that your home is infested with insects is bothersome; finding out that these insects are destroying your home is even more frightening. Termites and other wood-boring insects traditionally feed on wood and can damage floors, walls, and joists. Additionally, termites feed on insulation, paper, books, and even swimming pool liners and filtration systems. Termites can also invade and damage shrubs and trees.

Remediation

If our inspectors believe termites are present in the home, we recommend dealing with the issue promptly. Even if termites are not currently active on the property, the damage has already been done. Deal with structural damage properly to ensure the safety of your home, and have your home treated to ward off future infestations. If needed, we can refer you to a licensed pest control company that can treat and warranty your home.
